Good morning
"And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:" Phil 3:9
Good morning beloved.
Yesterday we saw some things about righteousness again. We are still on it because like I said it is a foundation for the victory of the believer.
I rounded off yesterday talking about Paul that aspired not to have his own righteousness which was according to the law of Moses. God himself had ordained that for the Jew to attain to righteousness he must keep the law of Moses and Men and women were attempting it but failing. This made God to find fault with the arrangement and come up with a new one which is that if anyone would believe in Jesus he would end up being justified before God and in essence before the devil and any other interested parties.
These are the things Paul said he could pride himself in. "Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless."Phi 3:5-6. He went ahead to say those things were actually supposed to be his gain but he counted them dungs so that he could be able to come to the knowledge of the Excellency of Christ. As long as the things a man think can fetch him righteousness before God are still strong and relevant in his mind he cannot come to the understanding of what and how Jesus did win righteousness for him.
In Luke 18:9-14, Jesus as well have the same position that Paul is subscribing to by telling the story of two men who when into the temple to pray. One was a Pharisees, representing the class of people that thought they had done enough to win a place of favour with God and the other was a sinner representing the class of people who feel only God can justify them. The Pharisee prayed and compared his self effort with those of the sinner, praised himself and boasted while the sinner found it difficult to even look towards heaven and was saying God should give him mercy. Jesus says the sinner went home blessed while the Pharisee was not.
The law of Moses was the problem for the Jews, but it looks to me like the religious spirit will engage different people using the peculiar arrangements available.
I have seen around here where people were questioning God for not giving them a desired miracle even after they had served him well but some unserious believers were being blessed. This simple answer is that he came with his own evidences for justification and it was not enough and will never be enough.
It may look somehow to admit to this sense this teaching is conveying because there is something in man that thinks he can and should labour for his justification. This is the reason you will hear someone encouraging the other man to shout in prayers if he would be heard or that until someone goes to a mountain . Some even push it to the limits that they don't brush their teeth and have their birth trying to put some works in place to push God, such are not tenable evidence.
You are not going to get a miracle because you have done enough but because you have trusted thatt Jesus did enough to make God move for you. It opens the door to blessing.
Lastly, let us look at what Paul says of the Jews in Rms 10: 3-4."For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth".
Go about facing life, the devil and present yourself before God in the righteousness that can convince him, " faith in the finished works of Jesus"
CONFESSION: I am saved, washed by the blood of Jesus, made into a new man. I am justified, the old record to my life is gone and the accusations of the devil, null and void. A new chapter to my life has begun, I am a new creature, free from the influence of the past life, free from all implications in Jesus name.
